What’s an autoresponder?

An autoresponder is a mailing system that sends periodic pre-set emails to a list of subscribers. Autoresponders are often used as e-mail marketing tools, to immediately provide information to their prospective customers and then follow-up with them at preset time intervals.

Why do you need an autoresponder?

Every online marketer and business needs an autoresopoder – period. Why? Here’re 2 main reasons why:

1) You can create an online course for subscribers – teaching them what you know either for free or for a fee. During this course, you can promote various things, as this course gives value to your subscribers.

2) You can create guides to your team of salesmen, MLM distributors, affiliate marketers and actually everyone you want to guide for success.

These two reasons above are shared by ALL business types. It either gives value to your subscribers or automates a training process or more likely – both. If you want to easily create a list, you must give people value to join it. Giving them a pre-written guide to something they want will encourage them to join. Moreover – those who subscribe are more or less interested in the same  niche (field of interest) and would be a great crowed for offers from that niche – which makes the list a very quality one.

The facts above eventually translate into profits and automation of your business.

How can you setup an autoresponder for free?

In order to setup your free autoresponder you need several things:

1. An autoresponder
2. Domain name
3. Hosting
4. Website/landing page
5. Ftp software
6. html editor

These things usually cost money but… I will show you how they can be achieved for free. Free services are usually wanting BUT you don’t need more until you start earning from your list, and once you earn money, you will be able to spend on more professional services…

So, how are you going to get all these things for free?

(1) A free autoresponder

Autoresponder services usually cost 20$ per month and more. Most of the free services lack with functions and are limited in various ways. A relatively new service offers all the functionalities for free. Just go here: http://ycc.co.il/freeAR and sign up. This will give you a free autoresponder account and you would be able to use it limitless. There are many functions built into this system and you’d better explore them. At the moment, support is in a building state, but very soon tutorial videos will be uploaded and you will be able to learn easily about all of the functions. Suffice to know the following at the moment:

1) Creating your signup form: Under “Prospects” you have either “subscription form” (to create a form to embed in your page) or “squeeze frame”. The easiest method is the squeeze frame. It adds a form to any web address you like without you even need to embed any code or to own the website yourself! Try it out…

2) Creating the follow-up messages: Under “Messages” you have “follow up messages” where you can add more emails to the series of emails.

3) Send a broadcast email (i.e. a newsletter): This will send a scheduled newsletter to one or more of your lists. This is very useful if you have news that are not part of the series of “follow up emails” but are relevant to them (i.e. a new affiliate program).

(2) A free domain name

Domain names are not expensive. They cost about 10$ per year and can be bought in many places over the WWW. There’s a way to get a free domain name, and although it is not a .com or .net domain name, it is useful to start with and then pay for a .com domain name only when you are ready. You can get it here: http://ycc.co.il/freeDomains. Easy to register and totally free.

(3) Free hosting

Hosting might be one of the most expensive parts of your website. They range from 4$ per month up to 30$ per month and even more if you are interested in a professional server of your own. You can get a free hosting account here: http://ycc.co.il/freeHosting.

Once you signup for a free account, your hosting setup might take a while. Click on “activate account” in the next screen. You are supposed to get an email once it is ready (it is manually approved by the admin to avoid exploitation of multiple accounts). Anyway, after you clicked the activation link, you get to a screen with various details. The most important is Server Name. Use this server name in your domain setup and setup its DNS in order to direct it to your hosting account.

(4) Website/landing page, FTP software, HTML editor

You get all these in your hosting account. You have a simple website builder in your hosting account and you can upload HTML pages there in order to create landing pages. Once you setup your website and autoresponder you can start promoting your landing page/website.

Don’t forget the following:

1) In your text tell your visitors why they should subscribe (what’s in it for them, what they will learn, etc.).

2) Make sure the follow up messages are set correctly – be your first subscriber!

3) Make sure the form shows correctly…

4) Build a thank you page – you can offer something there, it is quite useful (i.e. “thank you for subscribing to our list, as a thank you, you can have a 20% discount for…”). You can setup the thank you page URL in the autoresponder settings.

5) Learn as you go – there’s no loss of money here, and you can “afford” to make mistakes and learn from them.
